Core Competencies

Each profession has a specific code of ethics. In an ethical dilemma it can be difficult to choose a course of action if their is no obvious right answer. We learned that it comes down to judgement. Through ethics class, and even during our clinical hours, I learned what it may be like to run into a situations where ethics may be questioned. Learning how to properly handle these situations is important for not only our career, but the well being of our patients.

Below I have an example of the ethical dilemma assignment that we completed. It includes dental hygiene core values such as autonomy, veracity, justice, and societal trust.
